In 2018, Meesha Shafi accused Ali Zafar's of sexual harassment.

She claimed the singer-actor harassed her on multiple occasions, in response to which the Channo singer filed a defamation suit against Shafi in the Lahore High Court.

The accusations on Zafar did not stop with Shafi's #MeToo call-out as a few other women also opened up about their stories and accused Zafar of harassment and inappropriate behaviour. Among them was a woman called Sofi.

She claimed in her tweet that Zafar misbehaved with a girl they had sent to the airport to liaison with him for a fundraiser back in the States. He kept on touching her back throughout the day and moved too close to her, she had claimed.

However, in a recent Twitter post, from her new account, Sofi has apologised to the Rockstar singer, saying a false narrative was informed to her and she made a hasty decision to share it on social media.

"Last year, I tweeted when a young lady confided her harassment experience with Ali Zafar; I deleted it in a day when certain information was brought to my knowledge which contradicted her description of the incident to me," Sofi took to Twitter.

"I am a victim of harassment and a MeToo supporter and inclined to believe a woman’s account but sometimes our faith in people is misplaced. I regret the pain my naivete and lack of impartial judgment has caused Mr Zafar and I hope this can make amends!" she added.

"I am sorry that a lie I was told and believed hastily( because a liar was very young) though deleted is still being used to bash you and cause you pain. I should have clarified much sooner but I was afraid of the trolls, online stalking, and abuse. I hope this can atone for it," she went on.

"I see that the troll army of fake accounts have descended in full force, my original tweet was from April 2018, I deactivated this account last year but the retraction ethically should be from the same account that tweeted it," she continued.

Sofi warned others to not make the same mistake 'by believing women blindly' and do some research.

She further clarified, "Also I am not tweeting under any coercion or legal threats, people can do their homework and check against whom the FIA cases are. I am tweeting and (I should have done much earlier) because my original tweet is still being used so a retraction was morally the right thing to do."

Zafar then took to Twitter to respond.

"Dear Sofi. It requires courage to accept your mistake and bravery to apologise publicly," the singer shared. "You are courageous and brave and that is how you should always be remembered. I wish you nothing but the best of health and happiness in life. God bless."

In the latest development of Zafar vs Shafi case, the latter has now filed a Rs 2 billion lawsuit against Zafar for maligning her character.
