Four die as car plunges into Swat River

Bodies handed over to relatives for last rites

CHARSADDA: Four members of a family died, while another was seriously injured when a car plunged into River Swat on Sunday.

Local police told The Express Tribune that the family was returning after attending a wedding in Charsadda when the driver lost control over the wheels of the vehicle near the Bajuro village and fell into the river.

As a result, a man, his wife and their two children died. The driver survived but did so with serious injuries. He was shifted to the Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar for further treatment.

The man was identified as Qamar, while his two children were identified as Bilal and Muhammad, local police added.

After completing all; medico-legal formalities, the bodies were handed over to their relatives for performing their last rites.
