QUETTA: The Pakistan and Iranian authorities have decided to provide special facilities and services to pilgrims during Muharram and Chehlum on both sides of the border in Taftan and Mir Jawa.

This consensus was reached during a joint meeting held at the FC officers mess in Taftan, according to sources. Dalbandin Assistant Commissioner Habib Nasir led the Pakistani delegation while the Iranian delegation was represented by Colonel Haider Mureedi.

Both officials decided to establish special counters during Muharram and Chehlum on both sides of borders and make separate passages for pilgrims.

The meeting also decided to nominate focal persons from both sides and stressed the need for controlling the flow of traffic from Quetta to Taftan and Mir Jawa to Zahedan in order to maintain the immigration process.

It was also decided that a follow-up meeting would be held in the upcoming month.
