LAHORE: Punjab Police is effectively using information technology based on modern policing to protect citizens and eliminate crime, said Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Arif Nawaz Khan.
He stated this during a meeting with a three-member delegation of Canadian High Commission at Central Police Office on Friday. Issues of mutual interest including efforts of Punjab Police against terrorist activities were discussed whereas a consensus was reached between the two institutions to enhance information-sharing in order to make operations against drug dealers and their network more effective.
The IGP apprised that the delegation about the safe city and other modern projects. “Cameras used in the safe city have played a significant role in tracing different cases of terrorism.”
The IGP added that a modern integrated smart surveillance system has been launched through which security arrangements of sensitive places including educational institutions and places of worship can be improved.
