NDRMF gives Punjab Rs1,259 million for flood protection projects

Four grant implementation agreements signed with the provincial government

National Disaster Risk Management Fund (NDRMF) on Thursday signed grants worth Rs1,259 million for flood protection projects with the government of Punjab.

Four grant implementation agreements were signed with the provincial government.

The move extends NDRMF's grant financing of up to Rs881 million with Punjab.

The four projects are Rehabilitation of Old Deg Nullah from Deg Diversion Channel to Q.B Link Canal, Rehabilitation and Restoration of Jalala Flood Protection Bund,  Rehabilitation and Restoration of Hajipur Gujran Flood Protection Bund, and Protection of Village abadies Shahpur Chanjora, Fatehpur Gujran and Sukho Chak against the Erosive Action of Bein Nullah in Narowal.

The signing ceremony was held at NDRMF Office. The projects aim to augment the protection and enhancing resilience of communities vulnerable to flooding.

The duration of the projects range from 19 to 23 months.

Under the projects, various interventions including raising and strengthening of bund and spurs, along with the construction of ramps, stone pitching and other structural measures will take place.

The proposed interventions are in line with National Flood Protection Plan (NFPP-IV).
