The role of Muslim ulemas and Mashaykh to evolve unity amongst the Muslim ummah is imperative as the Muslim world faces several challenges. This was stated by the Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani on Wednesday as a delegation of the Pakistan Ulema Council, headed by its chairman Hafiz Tahir Ashrafi, called on him.

The Senate chairman stated that the entire Muslim world should raise its united voice for the oppressed people of Kashmir and Palestine. He also condemned the drone strikes by Houthi rebels on Saudi oil sites. Sanjrani stressed that the teachings of Quran-o-Sunnah were key for establishing peace and harmony in the society, adding that the government of Pakistan is willing and determined to protect the minorities residing in Pakistan.

He added that Saudi Arabia is the custodian of the holy places of Islam and Muslims and that any attack on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will be considered an attack on the Muslim world. He stated that the OIC and the UN should take immediate action against the Houthi rebels responsible for the missile strikes. Ashrafi said that the council is willing to raise its voice for the oppressed people of Kashmir and Palestine at every forum.
