PAC wants K-P police’s outstanding dues paid

Committee calls for signing agreements with relevant organizations before rendering services

PESHAWAR: Despite the passage of over eight years, the provincial police force is still waiting for the federal government to pay its dues. Now, a parliamentary accountability body wants to recover this sum apart from adopting a proper procedure before rendering services to other departments.

This was directed as the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly's’ Public Accounts Committee (PAC) met in the federal capital on Wednesday on the sidelines of a capacity building training session organized by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). The committee’s meeting was chaired by Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) MPA from Mansehra Babar Saleem Swati.

The committee took up audit paras recorded during an audit in October 2012. The committee was told that the provincial police department had rendered services to various organisations of the federal government during the financial year 2011-12, including to the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA), the Pakistan Television (PTV), Radio Pakistan and the National Database Regulatory Authority (NADRA) and others.

On the directions of the committee, an amount of Rs1.244 million has been recovered but a further sum of Rs69 million is still pending.
