The contractor started collecting required material and erecting the scaffold to reach higher levels of the historical structure for work on its conservation, Multan Archaeology Department Incharge Malik Ghulam Muhammad told APP on Wednesday.
The Rs8 million budget of the project was recently approved this year but was deferred due to paucity of funds. The conservation project set into motion in 2019-20 under the Punjab annual development plan. It will be completed over a two-year period and a sum of Rs4 million will be allocated for the year 2019-20. An amount of Rs1 million has been released for the first quarter under a policy of releasing funds quarterly.
