Unidentified armed men on Monday abducted a second doctor in as many weeks from South Waziristan
WANA:
Unidentified armed men on Monday abducted a second doctor in as many weeks from South Waziristan. Meanwhile, the staff at hospitals and other health facilities in the district are on strike over the recent attacks on medical staffers.
A junior South Waziristan Tribal District Administration officer told The Express Tribune that Dr Abidur Rehman was returning from his duties in the Tiarza Tehsil of the district late on Monday when unidentified armed men abducted him. He added that the doctor was working with an international health agency in the area.
Meanwhile, health staff at public and private hospitals in the district boycotted their duties over the abduction of Dr Noor Hanan from the government-run Tuberculosis Control Hospital last week.
