MULTAN: To create awareness among students on the hazards of dengue, its prevention and cure, Multan Commissioner Iftikhar Ali Sahu directed officials to introduce ‘zero period’ in schools of the division.

Presiding over a meeting on Tuesday, the commissioner warned officials that false reporting on the campaign proved counterproductive. He added that such flattering reports painted an incorrect picture of the situation.

“Shops should be sealed and the relevant people arrested in case dengue larvae is detected from a premises,” he stressed. The commissioner said the provincial government was committed to ridding Punjab of dengue and directed all relevant departments to work in liaison with each other to achieve the target.
