PESHAWAR: The Hashtangri Railway Crossing turned into a battlefield on Monday after greengrocers who pitched their stalls and pushcarts on either side of the crossing attacked members of the district administration who were attempting to demarcate the railway track.

As many as four members of the district administration team, which was overseeing the installation of metal fences and grills along the track, were injured by the violent greengrocers.

As the condition worsened, the officials called in the police to deal with the rowdy band of salesmen.

However, this did not dissuade the greengrocers who ran at the police armed with sticks and batons.
