Multan to become metropolitan city

MULTAN: Commissioner Iftikhar Ali Sahu stated that Multan will be declared a metropolitan city while the region, consisting of a population of 250,000, would be called a municipal corporation. Addressing a meeting on Saturday, he said that an area with a population between 75,000 and 250,000 would be declared a municipal committee while an urban area with a population between 20,000 and 75,000 would be called a town committee. The commissioner ordered divisional transition teams to compile a list of assets and employees working in all district departments. He asked the DCs to call a meeting of district transition teams as soon as possible to complete the process. The meeting was also attended by other officials.
