Seven lives lost in provincial capital

The victim’s family and local residents staged a protest against the police by placing the dead body on Faisal Chowk

LAHORE: A total of seven lives were lost on Saturday in separate incidents across the provincial capital. Police officials said that a 25-year-old man, Haroon, committed suicide by consuming wheat pills in Nawab Town due to unknown reasons. Police handed over his body after completing legal formalities. In another incident, a man named Basharat Ali was shot dead by unidentified culprits while he was travelling to his village along with friends. The accused managed to flee. The victim’s family and local residents staged a protest against the police by placing the dead body on Faisal Chowk, Mall Road. Reportedly, the victim’s family alleged that the same culprits were responsible for killing the elder brother of the victim. Police officials said that an FIR has been registered and protestors have been assured of justice. Moreover, five unidentified dead bodies were found from different areas of the provincial capital. According to details, all of the deceased were aged between 35 to 70 years old. Police sent the bodies to a morgue. The relatives of the deceased remain unknown.
