Insanitary conditions in Karachi

Resident face serious health issues

KARACHI: Residents of Muslim Town near Nagan Chowrangi, Karachi, are facing serious health issues caused by gutter overflows and encroachments, in addition to smog and pollution due to traffic congestion. During the recent rains, sludge has accumulated in various parts of the area and it is still present due to the continuous overflow of sewage water. This can be the cause of serious illness and the spread of harmful disease. We can already see the dengue and Congo fever spreading rapidly in different regions. The residents of the area had earlier brought the authorities’ attention to the issue, but the issue remains unresolved. This has become a matter of urgency.

I urge Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and Karachi Mayor Waseem Akhtar to take necessary action as soon as possible. The people should be their top priority.

Muhammad Ahmed
