Despite the fact that Rihanna has not released an album in three years, it appears the singer does not plan on doing so any time soon either.
According to Vibe, the singer's fans have expressed disappointment as they crave to hear her voice again. But Rihanna, now a fashion mogul, did explain what is keeping her from producing new music in a cover story for Interview Magazine.
The 31-year-old, nine-time Grammy Award-winner spoke about her busy schedule and expressed how she is too occupied with holding meetings surrounding the many businesses she now owns that she remains sleep deprived.
"There's a reason why an album is not being spat out like it used to," said the singer. "I used to be in the studio for three months straight and an album would come out. Now it's like a carousel. I do fashion one day, lingerie the next, beauty the next, then music the next. It’s like having a bunch of kids and you need to take care of them all."
Rihanna heads 10 signature fragrances, beauty and lingerie businesses and a ready-to-wear line for LVMH. She has broken a number of Guinness World Records and she is the first black woman to be the face of Dior. Whilst the former US president, Barack Obama, called her "a powerful force in the fight to give people opportunity, dignity, and hope."
When asked about when she would be gracing her fans with an album, the star said, "It really does suck that it can’t just come out because I’m working on a really fun one right now. I’m really happy with a lot of the material we have so far but I am not going to put it out until it’s complete."
She continued to add that rushing it will not make it worth while. The fact that the persistence and pressure is even getting to her nerves became evident when Rihanna said, "Even if I don’t have the time to shoot videos, I’m going to put an album out."
The Caribbean beauty ended on the note that an album is expected to come out by the end of the year, suggested that she has reserved an entire coming month for her studio. However, she did not want to make any promises.
