
In the old city area of Rawalpindi, housing some pre-partition buildings, people panicked on feeling the walls shaking around them. The shaker measured at 5.2 on the Richter scale, the Pakistan Metrological Department (PMD) said.
The epicentre of the quake was Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan, and its depth was 250km.

The tremors were felt in Islamabad, Murree, Peshawar, Swat, Charsada, Shabqadar, Rawlakot, Haripur, Rawalpindi and other areas.
An earthquake measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale had shaken Islamabad and adjoining areas of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Azad Kashmir on Monday morning. Tremors were also felt in nearby areas including Abbottabad, Nakial and Mansehra.
