MQM founder probed over allegations of hate speeches by telephone from London to his supporters in Pakistan

Metropolitan Police questioned Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) founder Altaf Hussain over nearly five hours on Thursday over the allegations of hate speeches by telephone from London to his supporters in Pakistan, media reports said.

Hussain was questioned at the Southwark police station in the morning. He was allowed to leave the precincts after nearly four-and-a-half hours, the report added. He was allowed after his bail was extended, the report added.

Pakistani authorities had complained to their British counterparts about Hussain’s incendiary speeches that incited his followers to violence.

In June, the MQM founder was arrested from his London residence. He was released on bail a day later by the British authorities without filing charges relating to the probe.
