Robbers cut hole in wall of adjacent shop they had rented for heist

RAWALPINDI: Intrepid robbers looted a jewellery store near Naz Cinema by cutting a hole in an adjacent shop during Ashura holidays.

The manager of Nizami Jewelers told the police that a shop adjacent to them was rented out few days ago and renovation started in it immediately after possession.

On return to their shop after Ashura holidays, the jewellery shop owners including Sheikh Kamran and Sheikh Qalbi were shocked to see counters empty and gold and silver jewellery worth more than Rs150 million missing.

Ashura security arrangements lauded

The robbers, however, had left the artificial jewellery untouched. The tenants of adjacent shop did not return to their shop on the day as well.

On this information, the police arrested the owner of the shop from where robbers had entered and started investigating him.

Waris Khan police station SHO Inspector Muhammad Khan said the wall between the shops had been broken for robbery. Police have collected evidence from the site.

He added the police will carry out further action as per law.

City Police Officer Faisal Rana took notice of the incident and summoned a detailed report from SP Rawal. Rana ordered using latest technology to trace and arrest suspects within three days.

Youth drowned

A youth drowned to death in Aughaoon dam in jurisdiction of Gujjar Khan police station.

According to police, the victim Arif hailed from Dhok Hayat Ali was fishing when he slipped into water and drowned. Divers of rescue service recovered the victim’s body after hectic efforts for two hours.

Family feud

A son injured his father and brother by opening fire in a family dispute. Arsalan told Koral police that the suspect, Sadaqat Mehmood, open fire at father, Rafaqat Mehmood and his brother, leaving them critically injured.

Police have registered a case but the suspect has not been arrested so far.

Youth killed

A youth was killed in Mirako area by unidentified suspects who broke into his house in wee hours on Wednesday.

Aitbaar Shah informed the police that unidentified suspects broke into his house and started firing. The suspects fled after killing his brother, Umar Badshah.

The police have registered case of the incident.
