LAHORE: The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) and a private company on Wednesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to collaborate on research regarding monitoring of dairy animals through sensor technologies. Speaking on the occasion, UVAS Research Innovation and Commercialisation Director Dr Farhan Jamil stated that the main objective of the MoU was to enhance linkages between the industry and the varsity for promoting research. He added that this agreement would be beneficial for the livestock community and the country’s dairy sector. According to the MoU, both parties would work on dairy production, with a primary focus on monitoring the behaviour of buffaloes for early detection of health milestones. UVAS would provide technical support to develop behavioural indicators. Behavioural monitoring devices would be used at UVAS for research purposes and would serve as a mean of demonstration for livestock producers.
