Hajj policy comes under fire

ISLAMABAD: The new Hajj Policy drew fire, as the Senate Standing Committee on Religious Affairs rejected the increase in expenses for Hajj, on Friday.

The committee termed the increase in Hajj fares 'unnecessary' and advised the government to fix the Hajj expenditures at Rs 185,000.

Federal minister for religious affairs Hamid Saeed Kazmi assured the house that the proposals will be tabled in the next cabinet meeting, which will make the final decision.

He added that though the government can consider Upper House’s proposal, it is not obligated to implement it.

The Hajj Policy 2010 had been announced on June 3rd, with an overall 19 per cent increase in the Hajj package due to inflation and with each aspirant having to pay Rs226,000 to get a flight from Karachi and Quetta, while those from other stations will pay Rs238,000.

Zahoor Qadir | 14 years ago | Reply The hajj expances are quite high as compare to other country's and also high as compare to last year,our Govt is not intrested to facilitates his people and try to give them tension in each and every thing,they are doing there business even with this wholy worship,kindly it is requested to stop giving tension to the people of Pakistan and charege 185000,as per last year Hajj policy.we are requesting the opposition Parties to kindly perform thier role so for our opposition is a B team of the Govt. please stop the injustice with the People of pakistan.
