Pity the nation!

KARACHI: It is mindboggling that we have three tiers of government — the federal, Sindh and Karachi city government. All are representative governments. They all have come into being through the process of election. Yet none of them are paying attention to the deteriorating civic conditions in Karachi. In many areas of the city there are large and deep craters on roads, rendering these localities very difficult of access. In many areas it has become nearly impossible to transport patients in ambulances to hospitals. Khalil Gibran said, “Pity the nation that raises not its voice save when it walks in a funeral.”
