QUETTA: Balochistan Ombudsperson Syed Munawar Ahmed Shah on Wednesday urged the need to spread awareness among society regarding the Child Protection Act. Speaking at the ceremony of an eight-day training workshop, the ombudsperson said it was the responsibility of the people to ensure the law – enacted in 2016 – is implemented in Balochistan. “It is the need of the hour to fully implement it in Balochistan to ensure protection of children,” Shah said, adding that 60 per cent of the provincial problems concerning children would be resolved if the law was implemented successfully. Social Welfare Secretary Abdul Rauf Baloch said the law was drafted with the assistance of Unicef.
