CSS exam

Writing is always a crucial component of any such exam

KARACHI: CSS is a competitive exam which is conducted by the FPSC every year and directly puts a person in the category of a 17-grade officer. CSP officers are not the same as any other 17-grade officers. They are the officers of the Central Superior Services of Pakistan. These officers have a lot of power, a lot of privileges, and a very good career progression. Most importantly, being the real decision-makers, they have much authority and resources at their disposal to serve the nation.

However, CSS is a tough nut to crack. The best advice that I can give to the CSS aspirants is to write as much as they can. What students do is that they read a lot but neglect the writing side. Therefore, despite extensive reading they are not able to pass the exam. Writing is always a crucial component of any such exam. In examinations, you only have three hours for one subject in which you need to give the best possible answer in a limited period of time. If you have not practised answers, then your answers although carrying too much information, will be directionless.

CSS is a technical examination. This means each paper of this exam has certain methods or techniques on how to attempt it. These techniques can only be told you by someone who is experienced. Therefore, guidance is crucial for clearing this examination — either in the form of an academy or a mentor.
