The procession was neither traditional nor licenced, said police officials.
Rawalpindi police registered a case against Raja Hameed Hasnain for leading an unauthorised procession without obtaining mandatory licence, which was illegal under National Action Plan and also violation of Code of Conduct decided by the District Peace Committee (DPC).
Rawal zone SP Asif Masood ordered lodging a case against Hasnain in Sadiqabad police station following orders from CPO Faisal Rana.
SP said that implementation on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) issued by interior ministry was being ensured on explicit orders of CPO. He added that police would utilize all resources to protect participants of processions.
He clarified that police would take strict action against violators of NAP and would do all possible measures to maintain peace.
