Football: Modric not to hand in transfer request

LONDON: Luka Modric will not force a move to Chelsea by handing in a transfer request at Tottenham Hotspur, his agent has revealed. Modric had been the subject of interest from Chelsea, with Tottenham having rejected a bid of £22 million earlier in the summer. “I don’t think he’ll hand in a transfer request,” said Nikky Vuksan, Modric’s agent in a statement yesterday. “He will honour his contract. He wants to play Champions League and win trophies. Luka will report today for training.”
