PESHAWAR: The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Chief Secretary Salim Khan on Thursday chaired multiple joint peace jirgas with regards to maintaining peace and security during Muharram.

Addressing a joint peace jirga at the Kohat Commissioner House, Salim appreciated the efforts and assistance from residents of Kohat and Hangu in maintaining peace for several years in the area.

He added that he had seen the bloodshed and commotion in Kohat but now, due to the cooperation of people of both districts, peace has prevailed there for several years.

Later, he also held a jirga with residents of Dera Ismail Khan.

He appreciated the performance of the local administration and police, and the cooperation extended by the army.
