Calligraphy exhibition opens
The Lahore Arts Council and the Turkish Cultural Centre organised a calligraphy exhibition
The Lahore Arts Council (LAC) and the Turkish Cultural Centre organised a calligraphy exhibition titled the ‘Tugra Art Exhibition’ at the Alhamra Art Gallery on Tuesday. LAC Executive Director Ather Ali Khan and Turkey Consulate General Emir Ozbay inaugurated the exhibition. A large number of art enthusiasts turned up to the event celebrating Pakistan’s 72 years of independence. The exhibition features 110 works in total. Of these, 65 works are by Turkish calligraphy artist Ismet Keten while the remaining 45 are by Pakistani calligraphy artist Shafeeq Farooqi. Speaking on the occasion, Turkey Consulate General Emir Ozkay stated that calligraphy is a reflection of Islamic traditions. He appreciated the efforts of LAC in promoting art and culture all over the world.
