Indifference to Kashmiris’ sorrow

Letter August 28, 2019
The situation has the potential of leading to a nuclear war between the two arch-rivals

SARGODHA: Kashmir bleeds and the world deliberately pays no heed. The Indian government revoked article 370 depriving the state of Jammu and Kashmir of its special status thereby fully annexing it. Twenty-three days have passed since the curfew was imposed and now there is the possibility of a furious revolt by the oppressed people in the valley who have been suffering at the hands of Indian occupation forces.

The situation is aggravating with every passing day and has the potential of leading to a nuclear war between the two arch-rivals who have already fought three wars over Kashmir. The UNSC held a meeting the other day at Pakistan’s request but the outcome of this meeting was nothing but a cliché, claiming the problem to be a bilateral issue between the two countries. Pakistan has frequently warned the global powers that the dispute is a nuclear flashpoint and has asked for their intervention in the matter for its peaceful resolution through dialogue but ironically the world has turned a blind eye to the atrocities being committed against innocent Kashmiris by fascist Hindutva extremists under a barbarous thug, Modi, who is a terrible symbol of fascism.

Can we afford another war which might engulf the whole world once again? Pakistan has internationalised the human rights violation in IoK. It is high time we explored more diplomatic options and fight the war on this particular front more robustly till the world is convinced that the only peaceful resolution of the dispute is provision of the right of self-determination to the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
