According to India Today, the prisoner, identified as Sundar Rajaram, was lodged in the Tihar Jail a year ago in conviction of robbery and theft case.
The recovery was made after a prison officer received a clue that he was hiding a phone with him. On checking, the officer realised that Sundar had swallowed a cell phone.

The 27-year-old was immediately admitted to Deen Dayal Hospital where mobile phone was eventually retrieved through operation, but the charger and SIM card remains in his body.
As doctors in West Delhi Hospital try to remove the objects, the jail administration said they are figuring out ways to stop this menace prevailing across prisons in India.
The Tihar Jail houses around 16,000 prisoners and quite often during raids, phones are recovered from them.
