First-ever Koh-e-Suleman festival takes place

Famous folk singers participated in festival with hundreds of fans in attendance of musical show

DERA GHAZI KHAN: The first-ever Koh-e-Suleman Tourist Festival has been organised in the district in Fort Munro, on Sunday.

DG Khan Commissioner Mudassir Riaz Malik, Deputy Commissioner Waqas Rasheed and BMP Commandant Syed Moosa Raza supervised the festival. Minister of State on Climate Change Zartaj Gul and Provincial Irrigation Minister Sardar Mohsin Leghari and Punjab Land Record Authority Chairman Sardar Ahmed Ali Dareshak reviewed the arrangements and attended the event.

On the direction of Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar, the security duties of the festival were performed by BMP and Rangers.

Traffic police along with tribal force performed duties for traffic flow.

Various departments including Public Welfare, Livestock, Cattle Market, Health, Textile Designing and Punjab Small Industry set up a crafts market in the festival. A recreational area and stalls were set up for children.

Festival celebrates country’s rich heritage

Famous folk singers including Shafaullah Khan Rokhri and Nadia Hashmi as well as other local singers participated in the festival with hundreds of fans in attendance of the musical show.

The culture show was organised by the DG Khan Arts Council. Fireworks were on display on the occasion. Tourists from across the country and heads of various organisations attended the festival. Internationally renowned cross-route motorcyclists along with local motorcyclists from different areas of the province attended the festival.

For the first time in history, motorcyclists passing through various tourist destinations of Iran reached Fort Munro, where they were warmly welcomed.

A musical night was also organised in the second phase of the festival which was attended by thousands of people.

The flag of Azad Kashmir was raised in large numbers at the festival in solidarity with the Kashmiri people.
