Modi conferred ‘The King Hamad Order of the Renaissance’ in Bahrain
First Indian prime minister to visit Bahrain, received the honour on Saturday night
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was awarded ‘The King Hamad Order of the Renaissance’ by Bahrain's King Hamad bin Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa in recognition of his efforts to strengthen bilateral ties between the two nations.
Modi, the first Indian prime minister to visit Bahrain, received the honour on Saturday night as the two leaders held talks.
“I feel very honoured and fortunate to be awarded the Order. I am equally honoured by Your Majesty’s friendship for me and for my country. I humbly accept this prestigious honour on behalf of 1.3 billion Indians,” Indian PM said while accepting the award.
"It is an honour for entire India. This is a symbol of the close and friendly relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and India," he added.
The two leaders reviewed aspects of joint cooperation in investment, economic, commercial, health, scientific and technological sectors.
Prime Minister Modi was also granted the highest civilian award in the UAE.
