Protest: Kiln owners block railway tracks

The brick-kiln owners association blocked the national highway and railway track and observed a sit-in on Wednesday.

The protesters also pelted incoming trains with stones. Brick kiln workers from Khanewal, Mian Channu, Talamba, Kabirwala and other areas arrived and observed a sit-in at Niazi Chowk and blocked the road. The kiln owners were protesting the government taxes as well as an increase in railway fares. Due to the blockade trains remained suspended and several passengers collapsed from the heat. The protesters also blocked railway track and strong contingents of police were summoned to disperse the crowd.
