WAPDA wins women’s squash tourney

Komal Khan of Wapda recorded victory against her rival Nimra Aqeel

PESHAWAR: Top seeded and current Pakistan No1 in the Under-19 category Komal Khan of Wapda recorded one sided victory against her rival Nimra Aqeel in the final of the Qaumi Yaq Jehti Kashmir Women Squash Championship played here at PAF Hashim Khan Squash Complex on Saturday. The final was started on fast tempo and both players gave a tough fight to each other in the first set where Nimra Aqeel raced up to take the lead but Komal Khan came from behind and tied the tally. Nimra Aqeel with superb nick and drops with slow serve took the lead again, but the set was again tied by Komal. Afterward, Komal with her strong backhand smashes raced up to victory. Member Provincial Assembly Shagufta Malik was the chief guest and gave away the trophies and cash prizes to the winner Komal Khan and runner-up Nimra Aqeel. She also appreciated the K-P Squash Association for involving good numbers of girls players of different ages.
