Population explosion

Letter August 24, 2019
As of 1st January 2019, the population of Pakistan is estimated to be 203,216,893

KARKI: The population explosion has been a serious challenge for Pakistan for the past many years. Pakistan is the 6th most populated country and the 2nd most populated Muslim country in the world. As of 1st January 2019, the population of Pakistan is estimated to be 203,216,893. The rise in population results in a number of social evils that include suicide, child marriage, child labour, child abuse, begging, robbing, unemployment, poverty, illiteracy and the growth of terrorism. On the other hand, in today’s developing world, Pakistan has failed to find for itself a significant place. The economy is tottering. Pakistan is a debtor to the World Bank, the IMF, America and China. Family planning is one of the most effective methods to control the population of the country. But unfortunately, in Pakistani society, family planning is thought on in a negative light. The government has failed to implement new laws for decreasing the population growth rate. It is the government’s responsibility to take a strong stand to implement new laws for controlling the population growth and create awareness about family planning.
