It's hard to believe 13 years have passed since Disney first released the musical phenomenon, High School Musical.

Now, the company is ready to treat die-hard fans by revisiting East High with a whole new meta take on the franchise, set to premiere on November 12 via the highly-anticipated streaming service, Disney +, reported Daily Mail.

First look images have been released which are giving us some major déjà vu. All the characters, costumes and scenarios will seem familiar to those who remember seeing the original film on Disney Channel in 2006.

One picture showed a teenage girl who resembles a younger Vanessa Hudgens, who played Gabriella in the films, belting out a tune onstage in a red dress. Another depicted her sitting on stage next to a Zac Efron-esque jock type, sporting the characters famous Wildcats basketball jersey.

While it's still early days, the new actor's stills conjured up memories of the onscreen romance between Hudgens and Efron which became a real-life relationship between the original co-stars.

However, the Disney + reboot will not be a direct remake of the original High School Musical, with a whole new crop of teenagers putting on a show.

The title, called High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, follows students of the original film's original location but with a different storyline.

It follows Ricky (Joshua Bassett), a skater who auditions for the production in an attempt to win back his ex-girlfriend Nini (Olivia Rodrigo). But Nini has a new boyfriend EJ (Matt Cornett), who seems to be gunning for the role of Efron's Troy Bolton, sporting the familiar jersey.

The original film was about Troy (Efron), a high school basketball star who is reunited with his winter break fling Gabriella Montez (Hudgens) when she becomes a new student at his school.

Over a decade later, Efron and Hudgens have moved on with their own successful careers.
