Pakistani bowler Hassan Ali is all set to tie the knot in Dubai today. Ali, earlier this month confirmed that he was marrying an Indian national, Samiya.

“A simple Nikah ceremony will be held on August 20 in Dubai, which will only be attended by my close relatives and family members,” the cricketer told a press conference in his hometown, Gujranwala.

The rukhsati and valima events will be held after two to three months in Pakistan, he added.

According to sources, the cricketer and his wife-to-be had a pre wedding photo shoot followed by a mehendi ceremony was held last night. The pictures were shared on social media and the couple looked gorgeous!

Responding to earlier queries, the sportsman had stated that since his family had concerns, he could not reveal photographs of Samiya at the time. Ali also mentioned that all the pictures that were previously circulating on social media were fake.

He would stay in Pakistan after marriage, he said.

Ali said he met the girl a year ago during a random dinner in Dubai, and her honesty inspired him. “Afterwards, with the consent of my family, I sent a proposal, which was accepted,” he said.

Divulging details about his wedding outfit, the cricketer said he will be wearing sherwani, a traditional dress.

Ali is among the few Pakistani cricketers, i.e. Zaheer Abbas, Mohsin Khan and Shoaib Malik, who married Indian nationals.

MJ | 5 years ago | Reply Hassan Ali in 2017 was ranked the number one ODI bowler in the world. He also was the quickest bowler from Pakistan to claim 50 wickets. Then in just 16 months he fell down to number 40 in the ODI ranking!! How does one even do that? How do you go from being #1 to #40 in less than a year and a half? Is that failure of the bowling coach Azhar Mahmood or lack of effort or motivation by Hassan Ali or clueless leadership or lack of it shown at PCB?
