Dengue larvae spawning in stagnant rainwater

The administration is yet to do much about the breeding ground

RAWALPINDI: Dengue larvae have been detected in tyres placed along go-cart track in Race Course Public Park.

Millions of larvae could be seen squirming in tyres and ponds of the park leading to fears of spike in growth of mosquitos, The Express Tribune observed during a visit to the site.

The tyres used as a cushion to avoid electric cars running into boundary wall have been filled with water after heavy downpour in city. The administration turned a blind eye on the issue while the citizens have declared it a breeding ground for dengue larvae.

The issue has posed a serious threat of dengue outbreak in the area.

Meanwhile, Civil Defence Department (CDD) recovered a large number of dengue larvae during inspection at IESCO warehouse and junkyard.

CDD issued show-cause notices to Superintendent Engineer, Executive Engineer and SDO.
