PFA imposes fines on food units

SARGODHA: Punjab Food Authority (PFA) teams have collectively imposed fines of Rs232,500 on 53 food units on Saturday over sub-standard production by using defective material and lack of cleanliness. PFA officials said that the teams conducted raids at different bakeries, hotels, milk shops, poultry shops, ice factories and other food shops in Sargodha division and imposed fines on 53 food units over incomplete medical certificates, defective sanitation system, sale of expired drinks, production of unhygienic and sub-standard food items and using defective material. The teams also seized over 1,000kg of unhygienic sugar, 450kg of adulterated milk, 114kg of defective sweets and 35 litres of expired drinks from different shops and destroyed them. The teams also served notices to 515 other food units.
