Lack of sports facilities

Sports act as a deterrent against drugs and social evils

KARKI: Sports and extra-curricular activities are important to maintain a healthy life. It makes one physically and mentally strong and develops the learning capacity of an individual. It is compulsory for everyone to be involved in such activities. It acts as a deterrent against drugs and social evils. Unfortunately in Karki, sportsmen are facing a different problem. Karki lacks basic sports facilities such as playgrounds, bats, balls and other required equipment. Due to this, a number of people have left sports and started odd jobs. Young talents who have potential are being wasted. It is difficult for a common sportsman to get membership of a renowned club because of the high fees. There is only a single playground, full of stones, in Karki. Here both cricket and football are played. How can we expect to produce word-class sportsmen in such conditions? I myself am a cricketer. The authorities concerned should look into the matter.
