YORKSHIRE: A pub in Yorkshire, UK has made fish and chips weighing 45.36 kg - breaking the Guinness World Record held by an American pub in Boston that cooked 35. 4 kg of the same item, The Yorkshire Post reported.

Fish and chips are traditionally crowned as UK's national food.

Chefs at the North Yorkshire pub cooked the world's largest fish and chips using a fresh halibut - which weighed round 18 kg.

According to the rules of Guinness Record - it has to be one fish.

The previous record holder is the Black Rose Restaurant in Boston, that cooked the dish comprising 15.4 kg of fish and around 20 kg of chips in 2004.

The entire dish – including the chips -  weighs a total of 96 pounds, beating the existing record.
