Actor Mehwish Hayat extended a message of peace and harmony during an auspicious ceremony in Norway, where she was awarded with the Pride of Performance Award by the country's Prime Minister, Erna Solberg.

In a video that is making rounds on social media, the Load Wedding star pointed out that Bollywood and Hollywood has 'tarnished the image of Pakistan globally.'

"Bollywood could have used cinema to promote mutual understanding instead of vilifying us as they do. They need to decide what is more important, nationalistic fervour or a peaceful future," she said.

Mehwish also became the voice of Kashmiri's at the forum and highlighted the atrocities they have been decades.

"Like our Prime Minister Imran Khan said, if they (India) are willing to take one step, we are ready to take ten more," she said during the speech. "I pray that common sense prevails and we are able to witness real peace in the region."

Her speech won many hearts on social media, but also received criticism. One Indian user wrote, "Pakistan stop sending terrorists to India and we will be at peace. You attack Mumbai, parliament and you think you are on the right side!"

Mehwish was quick to respond to the tweet, writing, "I wonder why your RAW sent their agent Kulbushan Jadhav to my country? Maybe he was also checking out how good our tea was?!"

The actor has previously tweeted about the atrocities in Kashmir, taking to the social media platform to spread awareness of the situation.

"The use of cluster bombs in Kashmir is in clear violation of the Geneva Convention," Mehwish earlier wrote. "There is no justification whatsoever. These are simple war crimes, the world has to wake up and put a stop to these atrocities now."

Indian Home Minister Amit Shah introduced a resolution to scrap Article 370 in Rajya Sabha, which would revoke the special status and make the occupied Kashmir a Union Territory with the legislature.
