At least 10 people were injured on Wednesday when an explosive device went off while it was being defused in Nowshera.

The bomb located in Azakhel Payan – a village in Nowshera district– exploded when a police officer from the bomb disposal squad tried to diffuse it.

Among the injured were five security personnel. Those who sustained injuries were shifted to Peshawar’s Lady Reading Hospital, where two of the victims are reportedly in critical condition.

Soon after the incident, a search operation was launched in the area by law enforcement agencies.
