Former president of the Indian National Congress (INC) Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday took to social media to criticise the atrocities of the Indian forces in occupied Kashmir.

He said that national integration cannot be achieved by tearing Jammu and Kashmir apart or by imprisoning elected representations and violating the Constitution.

“This nation is made by its people, not plots of land,” he said.

He further added that the abuse of power may affect the national security of India.

The former premier criticised the Centre for ending the special status to Jammu and Kashmir in the absence of an assembly, according to Indian media.

India abolishes occupied Kashmir special status with rushed decree

Former president of INC Sonia Gandhi walked out of the Parliament session on Monday in protest to the decision made by Narendra Modi's government's to end special status to Jammu and Kashmir.

India’s government on Monday revoked the special status of occupied Kashmir and rushed through a presidential decree in a bid to fully integrate its only Muslim-majority region with the rest of the country, hours after imposing a major security clampdown in the region.
