Pakistanis in UK to protest against IOK, Article 370 situation

Say abrogating article 370 is an act of further aggression on the rights of the people of the state

MUZAFFARABAD: A joint statement issued by the Kashmir diaspora leadership settled in United States and Canada said that India's decision to abrogate article 370 will not be accepted.

The leaders unanimously resolved to pursue the struggle to protect the unique and historical identity of the State of Jammu and Kashmir against all challenges.

They said that abrogating article 370 is an act of further aggression on the rights of the people of the state.

Meanwhile, overseas Pakistanis held an All Parties Conference (APC) on Sunday and agreed to stage protests in front of London's Indian High Commission and the Birmingham Indian Consulate on August 15 against the current situation in Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK).

Various leaders from different political parties, human rights activists, religious leaders, representatives of women organisations and community leaders across the UK attended the APC .

UK Tehreek-e-Kashmir (TeK) President Raja Fahim Kayani said that the Indian Army under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi was committing war crimes in IOK.

He added that Modi's main sell during the election campaign was the promise to abolish the special status of IOK, protected under Article 370 and 35A.

Criticising the use of cluster bombs along the Line of Control (LoC), he said that the Indian government was trying to change the demography of Kashmir like they did in 1947 in Jammu by massacring half a million Kashmiri Muslims.

"The Indian army has impunity under black laws and they are free to catch and kill anybody anywhere in IOK," Kayani said.
The TeK president pointed out that during the last few weeks India deployed almost 50 thousand troops in IOK in addition to the thousands already deployed there.  " During the last few days, India has launched a huge operation in IOK and have martyred at least ten young men," Kayani said. He added that even police stations have been taken over by the Indian Army.
Kayani urged the world powers, particularly the Muslim world, to take serious note of this grim situation and help shield the Kashmiris from  Indian atrocities.
