GUJRANWALA: Gujranwala Additional Sessions Judge Tariq Saleem Chohan on Friday summoned Senator Hasil Bizenjo on August 8 for accusing Inter-Services Intelligence chief Lt Gen Faiz Hameed of having a hand behind opposition’s failure in unseating Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani through a no-confidence motion.

Bizenjo made these remarks while talking with media-persons while walking out of the Senate building after the opposition’s embarrassing defeat on Thursday.

The judge admitted for hearing a petition filed by Advocate Ghulam Qadir Bhinder against Senator Bizenjo for criticising national institutions.

Gujranwala CPO and Civil Line police station SHO have been made respondents in the petition.

The petition states that Bizenjo accused the ISI chief of compelling 14 senators to abstain from voting against the Senate chairman in the no-confidence motion. “The senator’s speech has hurt the sentiments/feelings of Pakistanis and the Pakistan Army as well as spread anti-state propaganda which is violation of the Constitution of Pakistan,” it added.
The Constitution of Pakistan prohibits from speaking against the Pakistan Armed Forces and national institutions.

The petitioner pleaded the court to direct the Gujranwala CPO to file a case against Bizenjo and take action against him.
