Young women are working hard as students and that is the reason they are able to secure top positions in examinations, said Punjab University (PU) Vice Chancellor Niaz Ahmed. ”Women should play an active role in national development as no country can prosper without their contribution.”

He expressed these views while addressing a result announcement and prize distribution ceremony held at Al-Raazi Hall. The event was held in honour of top position holders of the BA/BSc annual examinations 2019.

Apart from the VC, Acting Controller of Examinations Rauf Nawaz, Additional Controller Raja Shahid Javaid, Deputy Controller Khurram Hayat, other officials, position holder students and their parents were present.

Addressing the ceremony, the VC said that usually, the university announces BA/BSc results in the last week of August or early September. “However, this time, the Department of Examinations has prepared the results of 204,626 candidates in just 42 days, which is incredible.”

He congratulated the Controller of Examinations and his team for this unbelievable achievement. He added that due to this effort, the university has started admissions at master’s level from August 1. The VC said women students from less privileged background have secured top positions, which was evidence of their dedication and hard work. “In the last one year, PU’s international ranking has improved and the university was declared number one in natural sciences research.”

He said that the PU administration is ensuring quality at all levels and curriculum of all academic programmes has been revised on modern lines. He assured that the university was also ensuring quality education at M Phil and PhD levels. He said these degree programmes are only being offered in those disciplines in which the student-teacher ratio is per standard.

He advised male students to also work hard and come forward with better results.
