We, as a nation, should applaud the heroic deeds of these men
DISTRICT SWABI: Across the country every year, the fourth of August is commemorated in remembrance of police heroes who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty.
The police are a frontline force. Many police officers have laid down their lives to protect citizens and to prevent crimes. The media is quick at covering all sorts of news. But to this day no proper recognition has been given to these unsung heroes. A minor mistake by them makes headlines, but when a cop is martyred, it goes nearly unnoticed. This is the way society treats our fallen heroes. They risk their lives and leave their families to maintain peace and tranquillity in the country. Just like other law enforcers in Pakistan, the police also play an important part in the maintenance of peace.
The police are stereotyped as corrupt and unprofessional. But when it comes to understanding the adverse conditions in which they work, everyone turns a blind eye.
Rarely do we see that the families of the martyrs share their grief on screen. The people should know about the sacrifices of the police. Recent terrorist attacks in the district of DI Khan have claimed the lives of four policemen, leaving their wives widowed and children orphaned. Such news is simply brushed away.
On the 4th of August we all should share the grief of families that have made immense sacrifices. We, as a nation, should applaud the heroic deeds of these men. A wide coverage should be given with a good image. Documentaries about stories of bravery should to be played on electronic and social media to pay tribute to our heroes and to express solidarity with their families.
