GUJRANWALA: A court bailiff recovered a man whose legs had been broken by police officials at a local landlords dera on Sunday. Alipur Chattha resident Akbari Begum recently submitted an application to the sessions judge stating that her 25-year-old son Zaighum was picked up by Cantt police on June 1 without warning. Later, the police broke his legs and handed him over to Ladha Wala Warraich police, who kept the man locked up in an animal shed. The police hid him in Sherankot at the dera of landlord Yaseen to prevent him from testifying in court. On the orders of the sessions judge, a bailiff raided the site and found Zaighum. Zaighum said the Cantt police arrested him over murder accusations and tortured him demanding he keep quiet about the real culprit.
