Bodies of two transgender persons found in Sahiwal

Victims were discovered after residents reported a foul smell from a house in the locality

SAHIWAL: The three-day old bodies of two transgender persons were recovered from a house in Harappa police station limits. Both the victims had been shot in the head.

Reportedly, the bodies were discovered after residents reported a foul smell emanating from a house in the locality. After receiving information of the incident, police reached the scene and recovered the bodies from the house.

Initial investigations suggest both the victims were tortured before being shot in the head. Police have shifted both the bodies to DHQ Hospital for an autopsy. One of the victims was identified as Nadia while the other was identified as Muskan. The former belonged to Gujranwala while the latter hailed from Harappa.

Police stated that further investigations into the incident are underway.

Meanwhile, Punjab CM Sardar Usman Buzdar has taken notice of the murder of two transgender persons and has sought a report from the Sahiwal regional police officer.

The CM ordered an investigation into the incident and called for the immediate arrest of the accused. He said that the families of the victims would be provided justice. “Effective measures have been taken to protect transgender community,” he maintained A few months ago, a man threw acid on a transgender after an argument in Rahim Yar Khan. Reportedly, accused Abdul Rehman threw acid on Chahat, after the two had an argument . As a result, Chahat suffered severe burns on her face and chest.
