Cat gets new lease on life after being rescued from empty well

Rescue 1122 springs into action soon after getting a phone call from the cat’s owner

RAWALPINDI: In an act of kindness and professionalism, the Rescue 1122 staff saved a domestic cat’s life by rescuing it from a well built on an empty plot in the city’s Lalazar area on Wednesday.

The rescue team sprang into action after a telephone call from the cat’s owner, Jauhar Majeed, who said that his pet’s life would be in danger if not rescued in time, according to an 1122 spokesperson.

Experts were then sent on the site, who went into the well with the help of ropes and rescued the wounded animal. The cat was given milk and later handed over to its owner.

Rescue 1122 saves 1.09 million lives in 2018

Majeed and his neighbours lauded the efforts of 1122 staff and chanted slogans in their favour.

The force tended to around 1.09 million victims during 1.03 million rescue operations in 2018 while maintaining an average response time of seven minutes in Punjab. The data shows a 30% increase in the number of emergencies as compared to 2017 throughout the province.
